How to play

Each daily game gives you a first letter and a last letter. Find as many words as possible before the 60-second timer runs out.

  1. Press Play. A 3, 2, 1 countdown appears before the 60-second timer begins.
  2. Type the whole word using the on-screen keyboard or a connected keyboard.
  3. Words must be at least three letters long and use the two letters in the shown positions.
  4. Press Enter to submit. Longer valid words earn increasingly more points: 3 letters score 3, 4 score 5, and 5 score 8.
  5. Common words are built into each daily game. Other valid words earn a 2-point Uncommon bonus.
  6. A word earns a 4-point Rare Word bonus instead when at least 40% of its dictionary definitions are explicitly tagged rare, archaic, obsolete, or dated.
  7. A submitted misspelling or confirmed non-word costs 1 point. Duplicates, wrong letter pairs, and unavailable checks do not.
  8. Find at least one valid word to keep your daily streak going.

Proper nouns, abbreviations, hyphenated words, and duplicates do not count. Your saved game history stays in this browser and is not sent to dailyones studios.

Words outside the daily common-word list are checked through Free Dictionary API for validity and rarity tags, using Wiktionary data under CC BY-SA 4.0.
