Privacy Policy

Betwixtle works without an account, advertising, or analytics. Scores and streaks stay in your browser when saving is enabled. Some submitted words are sent to a dictionary service for validation.

Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how peanutgames handles information when you use Betwixtle at betwixtle.web.app. It applies only to Betwixtle, not to other peanutgames products or websites linked from the game.

Information Betwixtle handles

Betwixtle processes the words you enter, your score, daily completion, active timer, and streak in your browser so the game can work. Submitted words are checked against a word list included in the site. If a word is not on that daily list, the word is sent to Free Dictionary API for validation. Betwixtle does not send your scores, streak, accepted-word history, or other game history to peanutgames or the dictionary service.

Betwixtle does not provide accounts, purchases, public profiles, chat, advertising, or analytics. The game does not ask for your name, age, postal address, phone number, or payment information.

Browser storage

Betwixtle uses browser local storage for two purposes:

  • Privacy choice: remembers that you acknowledged the privacy notice and whether game saving is on. This is necessary to remember your choice.
  • Game data: when saving is on, stores active-round timing, accepted words, daily results, scores, and streak statistics on your device.

If you turn game saving off, Betwixtle deletes saved game data from this browser. New game data then remains only in the open page and is lost when you close or reload it. The privacy-choice setting remains so Betwixtle can honor your selection.

You can change this at any time through Privacy choices. You can also remove all Betwixtle browser data through your browser settings.

Hosting and dictionary services

Betwixtle is delivered through Firebase Hosting, a Google service. Like other web-hosting providers, Google may process standard technical and service information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP address, browser or device details, request date and time, and referring URL. This processing is governed by Google's terms and privacy practices.

For words not found in the daily built-in list, your browser sends the submitted word directly to Free Dictionary API. That service may receive standard technical request data such as your IP address, browser details, and request time. Its dictionary content comes from Wiktionary under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license. peanutgames does not control these providers' processing or retention practices.

Sharing and selling information

peanutgames does not sell your personal information or use Betwixtle game data for targeted advertising. Your locally stored game data is not shared with peanutgames or other players. Google processes hosting-related data, and Free Dictionary API processes submitted words that require online validation, together with the technical request data needed to provide those services.

If you use the Share result button, your device's sharing or clipboard feature handles the summary you choose to share. The summary contains the game number, score, and letter pair, but not your accepted words. You control where it goes.

Retention and security

Saved game data and privacy choices remain in your browser until you change your choice, clear site data, or your browser removes them. peanutgames does not control Google’s retention of hosting-related data or Free Dictionary API’s retention of dictionary-request data. See those providers’ information for their practices.

The site is delivered over HTTPS. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but keeping game history on your device limits the information transmitted by the game.

Your choices and rights

You may play with persistent game saving on or off. Open Privacy choices to review or change the setting. Turning saving off removes the existing game-history record from this browser.

Because Betwixtle has no accounts and peanutgames does not receive your local game history, peanutgames generally cannot identify or retrieve that local data. For questions about privacy or a request concerning information you believe peanutgames holds, contact us using the address below. Rights may vary based on where you live.

Children's privacy

Betwixtle does not ask players to create an account or submit contact information, and peanutgames does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the game. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to peanutgames, contact us so we can review and address the request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Betwixtle's features, service providers, or legal obligations change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be presented in a reasonable way within the game or on this page.
